Greetings!

1) Below: Public schools face incredible obstacles in teaching kids about healthy lifestyles. So instead of just complaining, every year we fund a public school wellness project. Cast your vote now.

2) Hmmm: see the new desk+treadmill combo here. Love the idea, but 3000 bucks?!  Don't think I'll find it in my stocking this year.

3) Poll: How do your customers handle the holiday season? So far, 75%+ say most customers take a holiday from healthy lifestyles.

4) Subscriber news: We love to hear from readers, and Dan Houston, a clinical exercise specialist & budding salsa entrepreneur, just sent us homemade salsa samples!  If you like spicy food, I highly recommend the 96-degree version.

Enjoy!

Cast Your Vote For Our 2008
Public School Wellness Project

Healthy lifestyles start early.  Yet public schools lack even the most basic tools for teaching kids about nutrition, activity and emotional wellbeing.

It's truly appalling to read about the obstacles these incredibly committed teachers face.

One teacher described a small rural school whose playground is bare muddy dirt most of the year.  Her only equipment for 35 kids? A couple of deflated dodgeballs that won't hold air anymore.  No sidewalks, no parks.  If these kids don't get physical activity at school, they aren't active.  Period.

Other teachers describe city neighborhoods where it's not safe for kids to be outside. Kids from all walks of life gravitate to TV and junk food.  And tools for dealing with the daily stresses so many kids face? Forget it.

Really, it's no wonder so many are overweight and inactive.

That's why Radial makes an annual contribution to DonorsChoose.org. This not-for-profit organization matches project proposals from public school teachers with donations by businesses and individuals.

DonorsChoose receives a wide variety of project proposals.  Since our focus is health and wellness, every year we pick a handful of projects and ask our readers to vote on which one they'd like us to support with our contribution.  They're all extremely worthy causes, so you can't go wrong.

Which of the following projects would you like Radial's contribution to support?

1) Yoga for Kids
Inner city magnet school for 5th/6th graders with serious behavioral challenges wants yoga DVDs + yoga blocks and straps for its ongoing yoga program

2) Healthy Living Club
Music teacher at small urban high school wants to start a Healthy Living Club that needs gardening supplies, videos, books to create a model program

3) Getting Fit With Math Facts!
Third-grade teacher in rural community wants hula hoops to combine math lessons with physical activity - for example, 2+3=5 so they'd do 5 hula hoop loops.

4) Power Pilates
High school in small city wants mats and books to teach kids lifelong physical activities like Pilates & yoga rather than traditional team sports.

5) Kids & Motor Skills
Preschoolers with special needs in large Midwestern city need balance beams and other gross motor supplies, sensory materials & bilingual books to learn to walk and balance
