The Radial Group - DonorsChoose Public School Wellness Projects

From recent projects we've funded:

In 2007, we funded Yoga For Teens and Obesity Busters:

Here's the note from the Yoga For Teens program instructor in California:  And here's the note from the Obesity Busters instructor in Indianapolis:
Thank you so much for funding my request for yoga mats for my students.

I am increasingly interested in building student health consciousness to help them lay the foundation for an emotionally and physically healthy life, and I am so appreciative of your belief in my efforts to help students start to realize this.

I just recently received my physical education credential and will be taking the test to teach health. I hope to create a program that combines these subjects to give students the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. The yoga mats are a meaningful step towards this process. We will use them and be reminded of your kindness and generosity. Thank you again -- Linda Y.
What a wonderful surprise to find out that my grant, "Obesity Busters" has been funded.

This year has been a dream come true. My partner and I have worked so hard this year trying various strategies to help our overweight and obese students. We literally have 3rd graders who weigh more than 200 pounds.

We plan to use the equipment from this grant to help not only these students but all of our students in grades 3-4-5. We will be able to utilize them in station work.

My school is one of 270 nationwide participating in the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. This group's focus is to fight the growing epidemic in childhood obesity. We are one of the first 25 in the nation to make the required improvements to earn the Bronze level of recognition. I will be traveling to Little Rock Arkansas this summer to receive this award. Last year former President Bill Clinton was a featured speaker. Again, my deepest thanks for funding our grant. -- Roberta S.

And Bank of America matched our 2007 donations to fund Snug As A Bug In A Rug:

Here's the note from the Snug As A Bug program instructor in Illinois:
Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. Having a rug that will give my students a place to sit where they can focus on learning will really help them get the most out of each lesson I teach. I am deeply moved by your dedication to provide a quality education to all students. Sincerely - Hilda F.

In 2006, we funded a pre-K nutrition education program.
