Better than Google AdWords?

On the horizon: three new and potentially worthy online marketing options for brick-and-mortar health and wellness businesses.

These locally-oriented services are typically coupon/promotion-oriented and much simpler and cheaper to implement than traditional Adwords/PPC marketing:

1) Google’s calling YOUR business!

Google itself has hired phone sales reps. But they’re offering simple-to-implement locally-targeted coupons instead of traditional Adwords. And it’s for a fixed monthly price.

The services are called “tags” and “boost” and they’re available only to businesses that have confirmed the accuracy of their Google Place pages.

2) And so is “Yext” is a mashup of several locally-oriented web firms –  Yelp, AOL’s Mapquest, Yellowbook and a few others.

For about $100/month you add a marketing message that appears along with your basic phone/address info in search results or map listings.

Good idea, but as always what you PUT in your marketing message is what will make or break this one.

3) Enhanced Google search/map listings

You can also pay $25/month to Google and add extra info to your search/map listings like videos, coupons, etc.
